Cycling
Boulder County is one of the best places for cycling in the mid-west. Boulder has been nominated for a “Best City for Cyclists” distinction as part of Treehugger’s Best of Green 2010. In addition, Boulder is recognized as a Platinum Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, was voted Best City for Cycling – Bicycling magazine, 2006 and recently was awarded the opportunity for Google Street Trike to map the Boulder Creek Path. The city of Boulder has bike lanes on almost every street, offers a scenic bike path, fantastic climbs of different difficulty levels to destinations such as flagstaff and Lyons; and boast some decent mountain biking terrain. The surrounding communities in Boulder County have all become quite bike friendly themselves. Gunbarrel offers a very fun dirt trail White Rocks Loop that is good for any rider, Longmont boasts their own bike path called “St Vrain Greenway,” and just between Longmont and Lyons lies Rabbits Mountain, a great spot for mountain bikers. Whether you trained with Lance Armstrong or haven’t picked up a bike in ten years, Boulder County is a fantastic place to ride and Boulder Active will support you in any way we can. Ride safely and wear a helmet.
